Dr Taha Akhtar has trained in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology in both US and UK. She is a diplomate of American Board of Internal Medicine, has MRCP UK in both medicine and rheumatology. As a result of which she adopts a holistic approach in managing your musculoskeletal problems keeping in mind any other medical conditions that you may have.
She has more than 15 years of experience in managing common medical conditions like diabetes and hypertension. Her main areas of expertise in rheumatology are inflammatory conditions of joints including Rheumatoid arthritis, Psoriatic arthritis, Ankylosing spondylitis, Connective tissue disease including SLE, Systemic Sclerosis and Sjogren’s Disease. She is proficient in joint injections for conditions like trigger finger, frozen shoulder and knee osteoarthritis. She is one of the few rheumatologists in Pakistan who is proficient in the use of ultrasound to look for inflammation in the joints.
